A Saint Martin l'Escargot Restaurant

 

Primo suggerimento: se capitate a Saint Martin, NON fermatevi a Philisburg! E' una cittadina fuori dal mondo. Approdo di innumerevoli navi da crociere che ogni giorno scaricano migliaia e migliaia di turisti, ovvero migliaia e migliaia di polli da spennare. Si perchè Philisburgh vive di questo, una miriade di negozi e negozietti per turisti. Ma non neogozietti locali, qui parliamo di gioiellerie, abbigliamento europeo (entrambi dal gusto discutibile), liquori etc etc etc.... E quando i turisti risalgono sulle navi (alle 17.30)....le saracinesche si chiudono e Philisburg diventa una città fantasma!

Secondo suggerimento: Se preferite fare di testa vostra e non seguite il primo suggerimento, allora, perlomeno trascorrete la serata all'escargot. :)

E' un piccolo ristorante francese, semplice e dai colori tipicamente creoli (anche se all'interno aveva un qualcosa di tirolese :) mah...). Noi abbiamo ordinato le escargot (loro specialità) e il pesce del giorno: buona cucina, personale gentile, ottimi dolci...la mousse al cioccolato non aveva nulla da invidiare ad una originalissima mousse parigina. 

Due punti di attenzione: la collocazione, non si trova sul mare ma in una stradina secondaria e i prezzi....allineati a quelli dell'isola...del resto come ho scritto in altri post, siamo ai Caraibi!

First suggestion: if you happen to go to Saint Martin, DO NOT stop in Philisburg! It is a small town outside the world. Culmination of many cruise ships that discharge every day thousands and thousands of tourists.... so....thousands and thousands of chickens from plucking. It is because of this that Philisburgh lives of a myriad of tourists shops. But not local shops, we're talking about jewelers, European clothing shops (both with questionable taste), spirits etc etc etc ...  

And when the tourists back on ships (5.30pm) .... the shutters are closed and Philisburg becomes a ghost town!

Second suggestion: If you do not follow the first suggestion, then, at least spend the evening at Escargot Restaurant. :)
It 'a small French restaurant, simple colors and typically Creole (though something inside had a Tyrolean :)  ...). We ordered the escargot (their specialty) and fish of the day: good food, friendly staff, delicious desserts ... chocolate mousse had nothing to envy to an original Paris mousse .
Two points of attention: location, not on the sea but on a side street and the prices .... aligned with those of the rest of the island ... as I wrote in the other posts, we are in the Caribbean!
