Pranzo domenicale a Madrid? Cocido a La Taberna de la Daniela


Inverno, Madrid, pranzo domenicale con amici spagnoli ... alla mia domanda "cosa mangiamo", la risposta è stata scontata: COCIDO!
E alla mia seconda domanda "dove", mi hanno guardata con occhi stupiti e hanno detto: Dona Daniela!
La terza domanda è stata superflua! Ho chiesto a che che domande faccio???? Non prima delle 15.00!!! Siamo in Spagna, qui è tutto spostato in avanti di almeno un paio d'ore rispetto all'Italia! :)
Comunque, ero davvero curiosa di assaggiare questo famosissimo cocido madrileno.
A Madrid è una istituzione!Si tratta di un bollito di vari tipi di carne e insaccati accompagnati da verdure e legumi sempre bolliti. Certo, non proprio leggero e adatto a chi, vuol prestare attenzione alla linea ma, mi è piaciuto!
Siamo stati alla Taberna de la Daniela nel barrio Salamanca.

La prenotazione era alle 15.00 ma era tutto strapieno, così tra una aperitivo di vino e l'altro, in pratica ci siamo seduti al tavolo alle 16.00 passate. Non ho ben capito se alla fine abbiamo fatto un pranzo o una cena anticipata! :)Il locale è molto semplice, un pò spartano (e forse anche un tantino turistico) ma a suo modo piacevole e simpatico. Ci hanno servito una zuppa tipica e poi il cocido (abbiamo davvero faticato a finirlo...tanto e non proprio leggero! :) ). Per concludere abbiamo ordinato i dolci, tre diversi da dividere in 7, giusto per concludere in bellezza: uno alla ricotta, l'altro una crostata alle albicocche e poi il dolce al cioccolato. Buoni ma non entusiasmanti.
Il costo del pranzo è stato un pò più alto rispetto alla media di Madrid (ricordo qualcosa intorno ai 40€) forse perchè la taberna è conosciuta, è sempre piena trova in salamanca (uno dei quartieri benestanti della città). Che dire, contenta di aver, almeno una volta nella vita, provato il cocido! Il palato ringrazia ma i fianchi un pò meno! :)

Winter in Madrid, Sunday lunch with Spanish friends ... to my question "what shall we eat", the answer was obvious: "COCIDO"!
And with my second question "where", they looked at me with surprised eyes and the answer has been "Dona Daniela"
The third question was superfluous! I asked at what time .... but what questions I do?? Not before 15.00! We are in Spain, here everything is moved forward at least a couple of hours than in Italy! :)
Anyway, I was really curious to try this famous cocido Madrid.
In Madrid is an institution! It is a stew of various meats and sausages served with boiled vegetables and legumes. Of course, not really lightweight and suitable for those who want to pay attention to the line, but I loved it!
We stayed at the "Taberna de la Daniela" in the barrio Salamanca. The reservation was at 15:00 but it was packed, so between a drink of wine and the other, in practice we sat at the table at 16.00. I did not understand if in the end we had a great lunch or an early dinner! :)
The place is very simple, a bit spartan (and maybe even a little bit a tourist place) but it is a pleasant and friendly restaurant. We were served a typical soup and then cocido (we really struggled to finish it ... it was so much ... :)). Finally we ordered desserts, three for 7 people, just to finish with a flourish: one with ricotta cheese, the other a tart with apricots and then the chocolate cake. Good desserts but not really exciting.
The cost of the meal was a little higher than the average of Madrid (I remember something about 40 €), perhaps because the "Taverna de la Daniela" is known and always full ... and is located in salamanca (one of the wealthy suburbs of the city). That said, glad to have, at least once in their lives, tested the cocido! The palate says thanks but the hips a little less! :)

  1. La Daniela es un icono del cocido en Madrid!!! Espectacular. La calidad de los productos del cocido es estupenda al igual que el trato. Además el ambiente es muy castizo. Hay que esperar un poco para sentarse pero una vez sentado, el resto es un deleite. No apto para flojos de estómago :)

    Lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Hay 3 o 4 en Madrid pero el más genuino es del barrio de Salamanca.
