In view of the summer holidays, I return to Madrid (typical holiday destination for Italians), precisely at the restaurant "La Barraca", specialized in paella! I have to say that although you are in Spain, paella is not a typical dish of Madrid, here you have to order the "cordero asado" (roast lamb), or "el cochinillo" (suckling pig), but not paella .. you have to eat it in the south, in Valencia! However, if you really feel like you want it, then the restaurant La Barraca is a good choice. It’s on all the guides, so resign yourself to the idea of finding some Italians in the room! :)
I have been there twice. The first one I was a little disappointed, we ordered the "fideua", in other words, a kind of seafood paella, but made with noodles instead of rice and ... it was not full of fish. The second time, however, I have been there with Mr. X, my parents, my brother and his wife ... in short, a classic family dinner. We indulged ourselves! We ordered a shrimp dish and two large and tasty paella: "The Paella Marinera de la casa" and "La Paella Reina de mariscos", both rich in seafood (shrimps, squid, mussels, clams ....) and very very good! Do not believe me? Look at the pictures! Aren’t they inviting? A little tip, do not order too much ... the portions are generous! And for the cost ... consider forty Euros a head, a little more expensive than the average in Madrid, but as I said, the restaurant is well-known and good enough! :)
