Oyster Bar: ostriche e aragoste a Providence

Ho letto su una guida che Providence è la città americana con più alta penetrazione di Italiani e per questo i ristoranti sono tra i più buoni degli States.

In effetti, devo dire che qui ho sempre mangiato molto bene.

L'Oyster Bar è proprio uno dei ristoranti che ricordo con molto piacere. Si trova a Federal Hill, il noto e storico quartiere italiano di Providence. Se vi trovate in città vi consiglio sicuramente una passeggiata. L'ultima volta ci sono stata questa estate ed è stato surreale ... ad un certo punto credevo di essere stata catapultata in un film.

Una volta capito che ero una "connazionale" in visita, tutti hanno cominciato a parlarmi  in italiano, o meglio, in calabrese e/o siciliano con un accento un pò arcaico, mi hanno mostrato le loro pizzerie, presentato i pizzaioli, presentato i figli, offerto caffè, rigorosamente espresso, e mi hanno portata in giro per il quartiere! 

Una meravigliosa accoglienza che ricorderò sempre con molto piacere.

L'Oyster Bar si trova proprio nella parte più centrale del quartiere, é un ristorante specializzato in pesce, piccolino, molto buono, noto e per questo sempre pieno. Il menù spazia dalla granseola alle ostriche, all'aragosta (devo dire che sono tre portate abbastanza tipiche in Rhode Island) al pescato del giorno ed è tutto fresco e cucinato alla perfezione. Ottimo il servizio, piacevole l'atmosfera, prezzi all'altezza di un buon ristorante di pesce della città.

I read in a guide that Providence is the American city with the highest presence of Italians and so the restaurants are among the best in the States.

In fact, I must say that I have always eaten very well there.

OysterBar is just one of the restaurants that I remember with great pleasure. It is located in Federal Hill, the famous and historic Italian neighbourhood in  Providence. If you're in town  I  would definitely recommend you  a walk there. Last time I went, last summer,  it was all surreal ... at one point I thought I had been catapulted into a movie.

Once they understood that I was a "compatriot" visiting the city, they all began to speak  Italian, or better,  Calabrian  or   Sicilian,  with  an archaic accent, they showed me their pizzerias and all types of pizza they made and  presented me  their  children, always  with  pride;  they kindly offered me coffee,  “espresso” of course,  and they took me around their neighbourhood!

A wonderful meeting that I will always remember with great pleasure.

Oyster Bar, located in the most central part of the district,   is a restaurant specializing in fish:  little, very good, well-known and always full.

The menu ranges from crab to oysters or  lobster (I must say these are  quite typical three-course meals in Rhode Island) to the daily fishing  and everything is fresh and perfectly cooked. Great service, nice atmosphere, good prices in comparison with other  seafood restaurants in the city.
