After some sea fish dinners, last summer I decided to go into "Salento" hinterland to try a restaurant that inspired me a lot: La Corte del Fuoco (The Court of the fire). I was curious about this restaurant at first for its location, an  ancient palace of the '400 overlooking a small square courtyard, in the center of Galatina (I have to say impressive), and especially because I had read very positive comments on the food.

I'll be perfectly honest, on the internet I also found some negative comments on the courtesy of the staff ... I do not understand why! The owner and his staff were cute. They showed me the restaurant, told the story and their passion for the selection of raw materials they use to re-invent with always new dishes ... I must say that it was a pleasant chat.

We both ("La Corte del Fuoco"is perfect for a couple's dinner and I suggest you'd rather book a table outdoors in the square), we tried: trofie with a fresh sauce, the famous linguine with sea urchins (typical in Salento ), and to follow, a cornucopia of squid and a shrimps dish (if I remember correctly in pistachio crunchy....). To finish beautifully: a warm puff pastry with apples served with a spectacular cream and well-known "spocamous" ... so called because when you eat them you get the nose or the mouth dirty!

Cost of the dinner, about 45 euros each for the first, a second course, a dessert and a glass of primitive wine. Higher than the average in the area but I have to say very good and sophisticated. If you want to  stay for a night away from the crowded coasts of Salento and enjoy a good romantic dinner then jump on there.
